Got word tonight that a kid in the high school class behind me killed himself. We weren’t friends but I knew of him because he worked at Sharp Edge. Rumored story goes that he took his life after his gf of 4 years broke up with him.

I don’t get it. At 22 you have a lifetime to find happiness, lose it, then find it again. What could be so awful that a person would lose site of that?

It’s an outstanding waste.

About the song: Armor for Sleep came across my Pandora tonight and set me thinking. I don’t see this as a tune about heaven so much as a song about the feeling a lost soul would discover on the other side of this sort of thing. The message is that throwing in the towel wouldn’t kill the pain; that the soul would live to regret the decision.

A few buds and I had plans to see the Anberlin show tonight. Two skipped out in the name of work (one for school, another for ‘work’ work). The other punk’d for cash flow reasons.

The old me would have cut my losses and asked someone to grab a coffee or see a movie or hit a bar. But F it, I want to see a rock show.

I figure worst case scenario I have to mingle with awkward teenagers. Best case scenario I make some more reliable friends.
